Members of the University of Kentucky Forage Bowl team were named national champions during the 2014 American Forage and Grasslands Council meeting in Memphis, Tenn., earlier this month.

The National Forage Bowl is an undergraduate quiz bowl competition about forage and livestock management set up in a style similar to the popular television game show “Jeopardy.” The team beat out Penn State 4401 to 999 to bring home the victory.

“I am both extremely proud and humbled by the level of effort put in by these young ladies and their graduate coaches, and it showed in their performance,” Department of Plant and Soil Sciences assistant professor Ben Goff says.

The all-female team, comprised of students in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, was awarded a monetary prize and plaque for their accomplishment.
